Cayman Track and Field Racks up Medals at Carifta Games

The Cayman Islands ended the CARIFTA Athletics Championships in 6th place with 6-medals, 3-gold, 2-silver and a bronze.

Dominic Dyer gave Cayman their first medal when he posted 3-minutes-59-point-33-seconds to take the bronze in the under-20 boys 1500-metres.

The first gold came from Lacee Barnes in the under-20 girls shot put.

She won the event with a throw of 13-point-Zero-6-metres.

Dyer returned to take the gold in the 5000-metres in a time of 15-minutes-55-point-Zero-2-seconds.

Jamal Walton posted 21-point-29-seconds to win gold in the under-20 boys 200-metres.

Walton also picked up the silver in the 400-metres final.

Meanwhile, Rasheem Brown got the silver in the under-18 boys 110-metres Hurdles.

The tournament was won by Jamaica with 86 medals.

They were followed by Trinidad and Tobago, hosts Bahamas was third, Barbados fourth and Guyana fifth.
